The Mojaloop Foundation is inviting active community members to help shape the future of the Mojaloop open-source platform by participating in the 2026 Community Governance Elections.
Nominations are now open for positions on the Community Council (CoCo), Change Control Board (CCB), and Design Authority (DA). These governance bodies provide strategic direction, technical oversight, and stewardship of the platform, ensuring Mojaloop continues to evolve in response to the needs of adopters and contributors around the world.

Why Do Community Governance Elections Matter?
Mojaloop is built and governed by a global community of contributors. Its governance committees ensure that strategic priorities, technical decisions, and platform evolution reflect the needs of the broader ecosystem while maintaining the integrity of the platform.
Community members are encouraged to nominate a colleague — or themselves — to help guide Mojaloop’s future. Active contributors are also encouraged to participate in the election process by voting.
Election Timeline
- Nomination and register to vote period: Monday July 27, 2026 – Friday August 7, 2026
- Voting period: Monday August 17, 2026 – Friday August 21, 2026
- Transition period: Monday August 31, 2026 – Friday September 11, 2026
To nominate a candidate or register to vote, contributors must have been active participants in the Mojaloop open source software project and/or the broader Mojaloop ecosystem for at least two years.
What Does the Community Council Do?
The Community Council serves as the governing body of the Mojaloop Community. It establishes strategic goals, provides leadership for the community, and helps resolve issues that arise across the ecosystem. You can find more information in the Community Council charter.
Each voting member shall serve a term of two (2) years and may be re-elected for one (1) additional consecutive term. After serving two (2) consecutive terms, a voting member must observe a one-term break before standing for re-election.
Community Council Qualifications
Candidates should:
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of the Mojaloop Community and ecosystem.
- Be active contributors to Mojaloop’s mission.
- Commit to upholding the Mojaloop Community Code of Conduct.
What Is the Role of the Change Control Board?
The Change Control Board (CCB) oversees the continued evolution of the Mojaloop Specification. Its work helps ensure consistency across implementations, protects the integrity of the Mojaloop family of APIs, and balances the needs of current implementations with future platform development.
This election includes one available position: CCB Rapporteur. Members serve one-year terms and are eligible for re-election.
Change Control Board Qualifications
Candidates for the CCB Rapporteur role should:
- Should be an expert in financial services (DFSP expert).
- Thorough understanding of Mojaloop Design Principles.
- Thorough understanding of Level One Principles.
- Thorough understanding of Mojaloop family of APIs (FSPIOP, settlement, Administration, 3PPI, reporting).
- Ability to understand product requirements from Mojaloop adopters, implementers (including potential ones) and translate them into designs, APIs, technical requirements as needed.
- Ability to understand technical designs and implementations to ensure alignment with Mojaloop specifications.
- Ability to critically analyze change requests proposed to provide reviews and feedback.
- At least a year of presence in the Mojaloop Community.
- Time commitment to do these for the required duration (one year).
- Commitment to the Mojaloop Community Code of Conduct and other policies.
How Does the Design Authority Support Mojaloop?
The Design Authority (DA) provides technical leadership and architectural oversight for the Mojaloop platform. It reviews technology proposals, guides technical direction, oversees design and code review processes, and helps ensure the platform remains secure, maintainable, and aligned with industry best practices.
Members also help maintain technical standards, identify business and technical risks, encourage community participation, and collaborate with Mojaloop governance bodies to guide the platform’s long-term technical roadmap.

Design Authority Qualifications
Candidates should:
- Demonstrate extensive knowledge of the Mojaloop codebase.
- Have actively participated in Mojaloop workstreams for at least one year.
- Possess a strong background in software architecture.
- Have technical leadership experience delivering products in regulated financial environments.
- Be prepared to commit approximately three to six hours per week, depending on code review responsibilities.
- Agree to uphold the Mojaloop Community Code of Conduct.
